Your first home, without the guesswork

Deposits, pre-approval, open homes, offers: it’s a lot the first time. We walk you through each step, compare lenders on your behalf, and handle the paperwork so you can focus on finding the right place.

What we do for first home buyers

Before you fall in love with a house, you need to know what you can actually borrow. We start with a short conversation about your income, deposit and goals, then give you a realistic picture of your borrowing power across our lender panel, not just one bank’s answer.

From there we prepare your application properly the first time, place it with the lenders best suited to your situation, and stay with you through valuations, conditions and settlement day.

  • Understand your borrowing powerA clear, realistic number across multiple lenders before you start viewing homes.
  • Make your deposit work harderWe talk through your deposit options, including KiwiSaver first-home withdrawal where it applies to you.
  • Pre-approval that holds upA well-prepared application, placed with the right lender, so your pre-approval means something when you make an offer.
  • Support through to settlementWe manage offers, conditions, valuations and lender questions, right through to the end.

Common questions

How much deposit do I need for a first home?
It depends on the lender and the property. Many lenders look for 20%, but there are options with less, each with trade-offs we’ll explain. We’ll tell you where you stand across our panel rather than a one-size-fits-all answer.
Can I use my KiwiSaver?
If you’ve been a KiwiSaver member for at least three years you may be able to withdraw most of your balance towards a first home. We’ll walk you through whether you qualify and how the timing works alongside your offer.
Does using a broker cost me anything?
In most cases, no. The lender pays us a commission when your loan settles. If a fee ever applies for a specialist loan, we’ll tell you upfront before any work starts.
